Welcome back to school! I hope that everyone is ready for an exciting year! Third grade is an important step in your child’s education. It consists of many new tasks and skills for your child. Third graders are required to think more critically and work more independently. My goal is to guide and instruct your child so that he/she will be fully prepared for fourth grade. In order to accomplish this, teamwork is important. God has blessed me by giving me the role of being your child’s teacher this year! I also will strive to provide daily instruction, meaningful class work and homework assignments, as well as a stimulating environment and opportunities for success.
As a student, your child will be expected to complete homework assignments at home and to return them on time. We will be filling out daily homework sheets for you to look over each evening. Third graders will also be required to participate in Accelerated Reader and the STAR Program. Homework may be roughly 30 minutes per night. Some nights there may be more or less, and don’t forget every Tuesday and Friday we have memory tests! The schedule for the entire year is enclosed in this blue folder. Spelling tests are on Fridays, and I would like your child to read at least 20 minutes per evening. My webpage is a very important part of the communication process, so please be sure to check it out weekly. I will also be sending a classroom newsletter home each week. All papers that your child has completed throughout the week will be returned to go home on Fridays.
Most of all, thank you for all you do to ensure that your child’s school experience is a wonderful and blessed one!
