| Check your emails for information from Mr. Jay on the musical. This week is the last week of memory verses and spelling. Please study hard for these last few tests. Also on Friday the students are required to write down one of their favorite verses for the last test. They do not have to choose a difficult one but some students were trying to get by with the verse, Jesus Wept. This will not be acceptable for the last test. | |||

| Reading We finished up the book Charlottes Web and are moving back into our reading books. The story we will be reading is called Pepita Talks Twice. The author has written the book in both Spanish and English. It is about a little girl and her dog and the little girls struggle with speaking both Spanish and English. Phonics Our focus in phonics has been on syllables and quick tricks on how to separate the words because of its spelling. We will also start reviewing some of the things we learned. Social Studies In social studies we will be talking about what community services the government provide for our community. We will also be learning about government leaders and their roles in our community. | More news | | |
| · The spring concert is approaching soon. We will have practice May 16th and 17th. If you have any questions please email Mr. Jay. · Please send a sack lunch or money for a hot dog and concessions tomorrow for the softball tournament. Please limit their concession money to $10.00. Also please send with hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen, as you feel necessary. · Please remember to send back to school the gold last day of school celebration/picnic form. | |||

Softball Tournament
We will be joining the school in cheering on the 5th-8th graders at the softball tournament Tuesday May 15th. We will leave the school premises at 11:00, and walk to Lindenwood Park. We will leave and start walking back to school at 2:00. Please send with you child:
· Sack lunch
· Enough fluids for the day
· A maximum of 10$ to spend on concessions
· Good walking shoes
· Sunglasses and/or a hat if desired.
If a sack lunch is not provided the student will take a school provided sack lunch.

| Please us Wednesday May 9th for Muffins for mom! This week we will be finishing up the book Charlotte’s Web and will have the opportunity to watch the most recent movie Wednesday afternoon. The students are welcome to bring a drink for the movie on Wednesday. This week will be the last week to check out books from the library. Please get books back promptly by the last week of school. Also please remind you student to finish up their book report by Monday May 21st. | |||

| Math Area, perimeter, and volume are our topics for this week. We are also practicing multiplication math fact drills. Please keep practicing at home. Health We will be discussing what it means to let people down and to not follow through on a promise. We will also be talking about stealing and what is considered stealing. Social Studies In social studies we will be talking about what community services the government provide for our community. | Please keep in mind that book reports (on a chapter book of your students choice) are due on May 18th. The due date will be coming up soon. With only 20 days left the students are excited for summer vacation. Please remind them to keep up the hard work on reading and to continue this throughout the summer. We will be done checking out library books on May 14. I have many options for the students to read in class so please remember to get the library books in in a timely manor. | |||

| English The students are going to be working on creating a 30 second commercial. Their assignment is to persuade their audience to purchase their item. They are allowed to use props, color a background, and to use additional actor in their commercial. Science We will be talking about plastic, its many uses, and what it is made up of. We will also explore the building blocks of matter, specifically focusing on magnets and its properties. Religion We are learning about the disciples and their call to follow Jesus. We also are talking about the parable of the foolish rich man, and the story of Zacchaeus. | More news | | |
